The Tobacco Dependence Program (TDP) is dedicated to reducing the harm to health caused by tobacco use.
The TDP particularly aims to provide expertise on quitting smoking for those who need it most.
We do this through education, treatment, research and advocacy.

Research on Tobacco and Health Issues

In addition to providing education, treatment, and advocacy relating to tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program at UMDNJ-School of Public Health aims to carry out and disseminate high
quality research on tobacco dependence and its treatment.
The Tobacco Dependence Program has collaborative links with the Tobacco Surveillance Evaluation and Research Program (TSERP )within the School of Public Health as well as with numerous other healthcare agencies and research institutes throughout
New Jersey. In addition to core funding from New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Program faculty have obtained grants from national funding agencies such as the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH).

Many of the Tobacco Dependence Program faculty have a wealth of experience in
carrying out and publishing cutting-edge scientific research on tobacco dependence.
Some recent publications are given below.
